How to Install Joomla 3.0
Today, we are going to learn how to install the latest version of Joomla….3.0. We will cover each step during installation; database, pre-installation, site configuration and more.
Before attempting to install Joomla 3.0, it’s a good idea to make sure that your server/host meets the technical requirements to run Joomla.
To get more information on the technical requirements for Joomla, you can always refer to this link.

Once you have verified that you meet the necessary requirements, download the latest Joomla Installation version.
You can always download your version from http://www.joomla.org/download.html
Setting up Server
Now that you have downloaded the latest version of Joomla, unzip the files in the folder that you intend to install Joomla. If you are using WAMP, XAMPP or any local server set ups then I suggest creating a new folder in the root and unpacking there.
At some stage during installation, you will be required to enter the database credentials for Joomla to install the necessary tables. I recommend creating the database and assigning the appropriate user, if you do not have one available.
Once your database has been created and the installation files have been extracted, you can go to your browser and go to the url where the installation is located. For WAMP/XAMPP users the address will look like ” http://localhost/joomlafolder ”
At this stage, you may see a page that says Pre-Installation check. If your server does not meet the requirements as we mentioned earlier, then this screen. Using a check list, that requirements that are not met will be checked No in red. In the screenshot below, you will notice that Magic Quotes GPC Off is stopping the installation from continuing. Once you’ve passed the Pre-Installation checks, then you would be forwarded to the Configuration page, where you can add some site information. See screenshot below for details.
As recommended earlier, it is best to have your Joomla Database table ready to make the installation process quick. At the second step of the installation, you are required to fill in the necessary field to connect to the Joomla Database created. The developers behind Joomla 3.0 did a great job in improving from Joomla 2.5, with more Database Type options to choose from.
Fill in the database information and click next to continue.
If you were successful in connecting to the Joomla database table, you will be brought forward to the Overview tab. This tab serves the purpose of displaying all the configuration settings entered during installation. It is somewhat, your last chance to verify everything before adding information to the Joomla table. At this final stage you can choose to install some Sample Data. The sample data is recommended to new users to get an idea on how the site structured in the administrator.
You also have have the option of sending all the configuration information via e-mail. Happy with the configuration? If so, click Install and watch the magic happen but if you would like to make any changes, click previous to go back to the desired setting.
Now here’s where you get to get all excited for just a few seconds as the installation quickly sets up your CMS for you.
Finally, you are taken to the success page after the CMS has successfully been created. Be sure to remove the installation folder and now you check out your fresh install.
